28 Things in 28 Years

Setting aside some time to reflect on truths I’ve gained in the last 28 years. The list could be much longer, but we’ll keep it to 28.

  1. God is faithful. There have been some really tough seasons and hindsight, God was always there. Never changing.
  2. Seasons always end. No matter how cold, dark, and dreary a season in my life has been, it always (always) has ended. A dewy spring refreshes my soul and hope of summer awaits.
  3. Everyone has a story. Giving someone the benefit of doubt has been tremendous in maintaining a happy heart.
  4. Marriage can be beautiful. When I say I hit the jackpot in marriage, I mean it. Listening to many friends share insight on marriage shows the depth of importance when it comes to finding your husband. This could be an entire series of posts. You don’t want to settle.
  5. Children are everything I ever thought they would be and so. much. more. The greatest pain and greatest joy lie in the eyes of my little girls. I’ve never felt pain so deep than seeing them suffer or joy so big than in their roaring laughter.
  6. There is an enemy. I’ve learned to look for attacks especially in new seasons. A new engagement, marriage, child, home, job, friendship.
  7. Coffee is actually really good.
  8. Being a mom doesn’t have to be my entire identity. I always knew I wanted to be a mom, but 22 years of my life before kids built parts of me that I could never give up. Our true identity is in Christ, and that truth is the most freeing of all.
  9. The dishes will always wait.
  10. In the end, love wins.
  11. Some topics are hard. They affect deep. They hurt. They blame. They separate. They take away. Life is complicated, and like I noted earlier, everyone has a story.
  12. Sleep training is not for the faint of heart.
  13. Neither is potty training.
  14. Don’t say you’ll never do something … because you just might.
  15. Sharing your story changes lives.
  16. You are worthy. A treasure.
  17. You become the sum of the 5 people you spend the most time around.
  18. A family can look like a lot of things.
  19. It’s never too late to try something for the first time.
  20. When it comes to shopping, quality over quantity!
  21. Never watch the news unless you want to hear bad-news.
  22. Coke is not the same as Pepsi.
  23. Don’t let the printer know you’re in a hurry, or it won’t work.
  24. There is always time for extra snuggles.
  25. God equips the called.
  26. God WILL give you more than you can handle on your own.
  27. Everyday is Christmas.
  28. Life is a gift. There is no challenge in this world that cannot be used for goodness. God has appointed us as HIS. Called to go out into the world (the scary, dark, disease filled world) and love people. He is always longing to have greater relationship and intimacy with us. Each day gives us the opportunity to ask God to show us who He is. To reveal Himself in ways we have yet to understand.

Looking forward to 29!
